Ben just might be the handsomest guy at the shelter. He has been at the shelter quite a while and is one of the few dogs who doesn’t adjust well to the shelter environment. Currently he is struggling with the number of dogs and the chaos. Ben came from a home with multiple dogs and spent a lot of time outside so you’d think he’d be fine, but he is just too sensitive to the other male dogs. He is a wonderful dog when he is away from the others, loving and responsive. So, should you consider coming to see him it would be best to be able to take him out somewhere away from the shelter so you can see his true nature. He loves his walks and is strong, intelligent, and curious about everything around him. He’ll often look at you during walks to “check in” and just maybe get a treat. He is cautious around new people, but once he gets to know you, the happy boy with smiles, wags, and hugs comes out. He loves to have his favorite people scratch him behind the ears and rub his neck and shoulders. Give him a couple of chances, or even foster him, and you’ll fall in love with this young man like we have.
